One People One Heart's mission is about giving and multiplying blessings by passing giving along, helping people over crisis and strengthening and enabling them to be self-sufficient and having the capability to help others. You give, then the recipient of your gift is able to give to several people locally in Israel.
The geometric progression and continuous flow of giving culminates into broad community assistance as the ultimate aim is for people to stabilize and be able to establish cottage industries and business opportunities to benefit the community at large.
Individuals in need are referred to One People One Heart (OPOH) from the Welfare Department and other social service organizations in the community. These people are referred to OPOH because of their urgent circumstances, severity of need and the lack of help available through other local organizations.
The OPOH social services coordinator screens each prospective donation recipient. Once she determines they qualify for OPOH assistance, their story is posted to the website.
Donors select one or more recipient to benefit from their donation via the website. The donation is given directly to the recipient who then, once stabilized, provides volunteer services to someone within the local community in need. As needs continue to be satisfied, building community and building lives in which all recipients and the community reestablish dignity and self-sufficiency is achieved.
Examples: A father with no income receives donation to be trained, learning a marketable skill with which he gets a job. He, in turn, takes a couple of days to paint the weather-beaten house of an elderly woman in the neighborhood. The elderly woman continues the giving process by babysitting a child while his mother goes to the doctor.
A mother receives a donation to purchase infant clothing for her new baby. She volunteers to help a disabled woman get groceries. The disabled woman gives to the community by crocheting blankets for hospitals.
