Your giving is a charitable action which is a righteous act.
And, there are many ways to give: Money, Time, Knowledge, Sharing experiences and wisdom, and Spreading the word to others.
You can do it all right here on the One People One Heart (OPOH) Website. For instance, if you want to give money - you can click here to get more ideas or click you computer mouse immediately on the "Emergency Tzedaka Fund" tzedaka box and go directly to our donations page.
When you give, you can ignite a wildfire or start a ripple effect of giving in which you give to one person and they give to another and so forth.
At OPOH, we call this vibrant activity of giving "multiplying blessings" – Just do the math. You give to 3 people, they give to 3 people resulting in 27 gifts just from your action!

Giving money is often called "Giving Tzedaka."
In Judaism, giving is a part of life. Tzedaka (charity) means “righteousness” and is a central pillar of being Jewish, strengthening community bonds bringing compassion and kindness to the world.
Regular Tzedaka giving - every day or even once a week, will help ease suffering in someone else's life. One People One Heart has 9 ways you can give money to help someone right now:
1. One People One Heart features “The Emergency Tzedaka Fund” as one way to help those who are in urgent crisis.
2. Also you can choose from the many heartfelt stories of vulnerable individuals and familes. Just click on any one of the categories at the right: Families in Need, Single Mothers, Lonely and Elderly, etc. to read a story and donate what is most comfortable for you, either the total amount requested or part of the amount needed to help a Jew in Israel get back on his or her feet!
3. Another way to remember to give regularly is to download our Tzedaka Box to your desktop and even have it on the e-mails you send out.
Here’s how.
4. Support Jewish Simchas - Life Cycle Activities. Here is a way for you to increase the joy and happiness of a bar mitzvah or bride or take off some of the weight carried by one mourning the loss of a loved one. It’s tzedaka directed at a specific person for a specific purpose.
5. Also, you can sponsor a project that builds the community. Just click on "Community Projects"
6. There are constant needs, as well. Just click on "Urgent Needs"
7. Celebrate your Simcha (birthday, bar/bat mitzvah, birth of a new baby or wedding) or honor the memory of someone by giving tzedaka. You can create even more blessings if you ask people who attend your celebrations to give in your honor to One People One Heart. Just click on the Gifts/Simcha Partnering page for more details!
8. Support our Free Loan Society. You can help us provide free loans to those who need some extra money for personal needs or building a business. This is one way that money is used over and over to give people just a little extra support to stand on their own feet and giving them an opportunity to pay it back so the money can then be used for someone else.
9. Finally, you can sponsor an Israeli and/or Israeli family. This is basically giving tzedaka on installments over a long period of time, 6 months, one year, a life-time. You choose what level of commitment you want and OPOH will help you track your donations over time as well as connect you with the family you are helping! Just e-mail us with the request.
TIME/VOLUNTEERING
Voluteering your time is Chesed. Chesed means “kindness”. This is another fundamental Jewish tradition. For instance, volunteering to visit the sick is not only encouraged, in traditional circles, it is a Mitzvah-a commandment.
Sharing with others what you have been blessed with is a gift. Opportunities abound to give Chesed to enrich someone else’s life.
You can promote OPOH with schools, synagogues, and business organizations as well as provide expertise in helping Israelis build businesses.
Two ways to Volunteer with One People One Heart are:
1) Sign up as a volunteer with our Family or Youth Tzedaka Program
2) If you are a business professional, e-mail us with a summary about your skills and what you can do to help Israelis build self-sufficiency through cottage industries.
For Israelis, One People One Heart provides the opportunity for those who have benefited from generous donations to give in some way to someone in their community. For instance, people in Tzfat, Israel who have been helped by OPOH already babysit or tutor young children, shop for groceries and cook for elderly and disabled individuals and become "big brothers" and "sisters" to teens to keep them in school and off the streets.
